Qui som?

Escola de teatre de Barcelona, especialitzada en la metodologia d'Augusto Boal. Desenvolupa diferents projectes amb el Teatre de l'Oprimit des de l'any 2000, per la defensa dels Drets Humans, l'eradicació de l'exclusió social i contra la vulnerabilitat dels més febles, tot treballant en la cerca de models socials alternatius. Utilitza el teatre com a eina pedagògica en tots els àmbits.

La nostra filosofia

El Forn del teatre Pa'tothom volem integrar diferents expressions culturals utilitzant el teatre com a eina per a millorar la qualitat de vida de les persones, contribuint al desenvolupament integral de tots. El que interessa del teatre és que tingui un sentit social viu i que estigui a l'abast de tothom.

Volem treballar en el blindatge davant de les estructures que propicien l’exclusió social d’aquells grups vulnerables. Entenem que l’exclusió és el fenomen que pateixen certes persones com a conseqüència d'una determinada filosofia econòmica, fent doncs dels drets un altre bé de consum. Entenem per a vulnerable aquell que no té la possibilitat per a defensar-se de l’exclusió social.

Visió

• Detectar els conflictes socials que per a raons de nacionalitat, sexe, edat o d'altres factors de vulnerabilitat social, es troben a nostre àmbit d'actuació. I a partir de aquí, incidir positivament en els col·lectius afectats, utilitzant, principalment, el teatre en les seves diverses aplicacions, i la comunicació tant en conferències, debats, xerrades, etc.
• Pa’tothom mantindrà la seva arrel docent i lúdica (en el sentit de dinamitzadora social) amb
perspectives d'ampliació i extensió d'activitats sense allunyar-se de la seva raó de ser i sense
abandonar els valors que constitueixen la seva essència.

Valors

• La motivació primordial serà la qualitat docent i el cobriment social amb les seves activitats.
• Es consideren prioritaris els esforços que vagin encaminats als sectors socials amb problemes.
• Es potenciaran les activitats que tinguin un contingut cultural quan siguin extra docents.
• Es posarà especial atenció a la formació d'actors, directors, dramaturg, etc. mitjançant l'escola tenint com a condicionant ineludible els objectius de Pa’tothom.
• Les activitats mai seran guiades per interessos econòmics i ànim de lucre.
• Es tractarà de intervenir directa o indirectament en els col·lectius afectats. Organitzar activitats per a ajudar als sectors socials més vulnerables.

Missió

• Impulsar la docència teatral i l'activitat dins d'aquest camp amb dignitat, respectant el que representa el teatre dins l'àmbit social i el nostre esdevenir històric, sense oblidar els problemes que pot tenir la gent de l’entorn. Això mai exclourà una constant activitat investigadora, renovadora i creadora de noves formes d'expressió teatral que s’adeqüin a la realitat del moment i l’espai on intervenim.
• Alhora, impulsarà activitats connexes que suposin una aportació lúdica a l’entorn i de divulgació per la seva zona d'influència.
• Contribuir a desenvolupar un major interès pels problemes d'exclusió social i promoure i desenvolupar models de sensibilització en els grups denominats “oprimits” i que són marginats per la societat, amb la finalitat de fomentar en ells un esperit crític que faciliti -en lo possible-, la seva alliberació mitjançant la consciencia d'igualtat i justícia.

Objectius

• Ús de tècniques interactives de teatre, sobretot amb el teatre de l'oprimit per a incidir en la societat per a millorar la situació de certs col·lectius.
• Organització de plans d'estudi adequats a nostra filosofia, tot impulsant una forma innovadora de concebre teatre.
• Organització d'activitats vetllant que tinguin un contingut cultural que suposi una continuïtat i que representi una aportació positiva de Pa’tothom a la nostra societat.
• Aconseguir crear sinergies amb altres entitats per a crear possibles col·laboracions i treball en xarxa.
• Creació pròpia d'un repertori d'obres de teatre directament relacionades amb nostres finalitats.
• Organització de debats, trobades i seminaris especialitzats.
• Participació a congressos i jornades nacionals i internacionals per a intercanviar projectes i idees. Renovació constant de coneixements i investigació de noves línies de treball.
• Intervenció a través dels mitjans de comunicació per a denunciar les situacions de marginació que hem pogut detectar i intervindre amb el teatre per a donar suport a la població afectada.
• Desenvolupar un sistema de investigació sociològica per a conèixer les diverses situacions de opressió o marginació que vagin sorgint.
• Facilitar nostres medis a persones o col·lectius que desitgin expressar les seves idees, sempre que aquestes siguin coherents amb la filosofia de Pa’tothom.
• Adherir-nos a tots aquells moviments socials amb els que podem compartir un ideari proper.

Filosofía

¿Quiénes somos?

Escuela de teatro de Barcelona, especializada en la metodología de Augusto Boal. Desarrolla diferentes proyectos con el Teatro del Oprimido desde el año 2000, por la defensa de los Derechos Humanos, la erradicación de la exclusión social y contra la vulnerabilidad de los más débiles, trabajando en la búsqueda de modelos sociales alternativos. Utiliza el teatro como herramienta pedagógica en todos los ámbitos.

Nuestra filosofía

El Forn del teatre Pa'tothom quiere integrar diferentes expresiones culturales utilizando el teatro como herramienta para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas contribuyendo al desarrollo integral de todos. Lo que interesa del teatro es que tenga un sentido social vivo y que esté al abasto de todos.

Queremos trabajar en el blindaje ante las estructuras que propician la exclusión social de aquellos grupos vulnerables. Entendemos que exclusión es el fenómeno que sufren ciertas personas como consecuencia de una determinada filosofía económica, haciendo entonces de los derechos otro bien de consumo. Entendemos por vulnerable aquel que no tiene la posibilidad de defenderse de la exclusión social.

Visión

• Pa’tothom mantendrá su raíz docente y lúdica (en el sentido de dinamizadora social) con perspectivas de ampliación y extensión de actividades sin alejarse de su razón de ser y sin abandonar los valores que constituyen su esencia.

Valores

• Se dará especial énfasis a la formación de actores, directores, dramaturgos, etc. mediante la escuela, teniendo como condicionante ineludible los objetivos de Pa’tothom.
• Las actividades nunca serán guiadas por intereses económicos o ánimo de lucro.
• Se propone intervenir directa o indirecta en los colectivos afectados. Organizar actividades para ayudar a los sectores sociales más vulnerables.

Misión

• Impulsar la docencia teatral y la actividad dentro de este campo con dignidad, respetando lo que representa el teatro dentro del ámbito social y nuestro devenir histórico, sin olvidar los problemas que puede tener la gente del entorno. Esto nunca excluirá una constante actividad investigadora, renovadora y creadora de nuevas formas de expresión teatral que se adecuen a la realidad del momento y al espacio donde intervenimos.
• También impulsará actividades conexas que supongan una aportación lúdica al entorna y de divulgación por su zona de influencia.
• Contribuir a desarrollar un mayor interés por los problemas de exclusión social y promover y desarrollar modelos de sensibilización en los grupos denominados “oprimidos” y que han sido marginados por la sociedad, con el fin de fomentar en ellos un espíritu crítico que facilite -en lo posible-, su liberación a través de la conciencia de igualdad y justicia.

Objectivos

• Uso de técnica interactivas de teatro, sobre todo del Teatro del Oprimido para incidir en la sociedad de cara a mejorar la situación de ciertos colectivos.
• Organización de planes de estudios adecuados a nuestra filosofía, impulsando una forma innovadora de concebir el teatro.
• Organización de actividades lúdicas para el entorno teniendo en cuenta que tengan un contenido cultural que suponga una continuidad y que represente una aportación positiva de Pa’tothom a nuestra sociedad.
• Conseguir crear la sinergia necesaria con otras entidades para posibles colaboraciones y creación de redes.
• Creación propia de un repertorio de obras de teatro relacionadas con nuestros fines.
• Organización de debates, encuentros y seminarios especializados.
• Participación en congresos y jornadas nacionales e internacionales para intercambiar proyectos e ideas. Renovación constante de conocimientos e investigación de nuevas líneas de trabajo.
• Intervención a través de los medios de comunicación para denunciar las situaciones de marginación que hayamos podido detectar y intervenir con el teatre para apoyar la población afectada.
• Desarrollar un sistema de investigación sociológica para conocer las diversas situaciones de opresión o marginación que vayan surgiendo.
• Facilitar nuestros medios a personas o colectivos que deseen expresar sus ideas, siempre que éstas sean coherentes con la filosofía de Pa’tothom.

Philosophy

Who are we?

Theatre school in Barcelona, specialized in Augusto Boal’s methodology. Since 2000, we have developed different projects within the framework of the Theatre of the Oppressed in fields such as the defense of Human Rights, the eradication of social exclusion and the empowerment of the weakest, always in search of alternative social models. We use theatre as a teaching tool in all fields.

The Forn del teatre Pa'tothom wants to integrate different cultural expressions using theatre as a tool to help people. The crux of the matter is that the theatre has a social sense and led everyone can participate. Pa’tothom wants to fight against the structures which favours the social exclusion of some vulnerable groups. Pa’tothom define by “exclusion” the consequences that some people suffers because an economical philosophy. That’s how the Human Right became another consumer good. And “vulnerable” is who don’t have the possibility to defend himself against social exclusion.

Description of activities

Pa’tothom follows two basic lines:

- The first is to convey drama teaching -using techniques and tools of drama and Theatre of the Opressed (A.Boal)- to all people who want to be actors but also to those who want develop social projects such as community actions.

- The second is to offer an ideal space to the neighbourhood, entities, and other groups, for the staging of cultural activities, with special priority given to theatre groups. Even though theatre is our number one priority, we also work in different fields, such as conferences or exhibitions. Our school is also an open space for different teaching techniques, coordination of activities together with entities of the neighbourhood and creation of new social iniciative projects.

These activities are aimed to an audience as wide as possible, so that every individual is given the possibility of participating.

A brief resumé

Pa’tothom was born from the effort of enterprising people who love theatre and art commited with their neighbourhood and their city. After finding an adequate space to work, we started working on projects that joined art and social work. Since then, the focal point has been to feed Barcelona with theatre proposals and to act as a cultural axis to fight against marginalization.

Pa’tothom collaborates with different social entities in and around Barcelona (Community Centres, public schools, etc) allowing young people and those in less privileged economic situations to access to theatre.

During these first 10 years nearly 1500 people have passed through Pa’tothom, of which 250 had received grants. We also organize exhibitions, conferences, storytelling, or concerts. Pa’tothom also helps to the publishing and translation of books related to the Theatre of the Oppressed.

Different works

Teaching
Pa’tothom offers classes and workshops for beginners and professionals. The school has two-year-courses in Drama and Theatre of Social Intervention as well as workshops and intensive courses. Theatre of social Intervention also provides the attendants with practical training in existing proyects of the school. New projects include the training and formation of school monitors through theatre.

Premises
Pa’tothom rents its premises for rehearsals of theatre groups or intensive courses and workshops.

Grants
Pa’tothom pays special attention to commited people living hard economic situations and awards them with grants that involve free access to the school and participation in projects.

Relation with other theatre companies
Pa’tothom supports theatre companies and has productive exchanges with them. Pa’tothom also helps theatre companies involved in similar activities.

Other activities
- Organizing conferences, exhibitions, concerts, readings, etc.

Social intervention / Theatre of the Oppressed

Includes projects such as:

Workhops in public schools of disadvantaged areas, Theatre Forum and workshops in prisons, Theatre Forum in Parents’ Associations, Workshops with drug addicts, Workshops with mentally handicapped people, etc.

The priority of our activities is to promote social change.

Forn de teatre Pa'tothom will maintain its teaching and recreational work (within the social involvement) with the prospects of enlarging its activities but, at the same time, without forgetting its essencial values. We would like to integrate different cultural expressions, using theatre as a tool that improves people’s quality of life and contributing with an artistic approach to the integral development of everyone. Theatre is to has an active social sense accessible to everyone.

Theatre of the Oppressed was born in 1971, in Brazil, under the very young form of Newspaper Theatre , with the specific goal of dealing with local problems – soon, it was used all over the country. Forum Theatre came into being in Peru, in 1973, as part of a Literacy Program; we thought it would be good only for South America– now it is practiced in more than 70 countries. Growing up, TO developed Invisible Theatre in Argentina, as political activity, and Image Theatre to establish dialogue among Indigenous Nations and Spanish descendants, in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico... Now these forms are being used in all kinds of dialogues.

In Europe, TO expanded and the Rainbow of Desire came into being – first to understand psychological problems, later even to create characters in any play. Back in Brazil, the Legislative Theatre was born to help the Desire of the population to become Law – which it did at last 13 times. Right now, the Subjunctive Theatre is coming slowly into being.

We discovered that all those forms, independently where they had been created, could be developed and used all around the world, because they are simply a Human Language.

TO was used by peasants and workers; later, by teachers and students; now, also by artists, social workers, psychotherapists, NGOs... At first, in small, almost clandestine places. Now in the streets, schools, churches, trade-unions, regular theatres, prisons...

Theatre of the Oppressed is the Game of Dialogue: we play and learn together. All kinds of Games must have Discipline - clear rules that we must follow. At the same time, Games have absolute need of creativity and Freedom. TO is the perfect synthesis between the antithetic Discipline and Freedom. Without Discipline, there is no Social Life; without Freedom, there is no Life.

The Discipline of our Game is our belief that we that we must re-establish the right of everyone to exist in dignity. We believe that all of us are more, and much better, than what we think we are. We believe in solidarity.

Our Freedom is to invent ways to help to humanize Humanity, freely invading all fields of human activities: social, pedagogical, political, artistic... Theatre is a Language and so it can be used to speak about all human concerns, not to be limited to theatre itself.

We believe in Peace, not in Passivity!
Above all, we believe that the Theatre of the Oppressed is of, about, by and for the Oppressed, as it is clear in our Declaration of Principles. If you agree with this, we certainly agree with you.
